Personality

   Much like how Gil speaks to others, his general way of life is... blunt, to say the least. He is typically introverted and keeps his thoughts to himself. Gil may appear antagonistic and apathetic with most Pokemon he meets, but his real thoughts tend to be optimistic towards who they are and not immediately hate them... depending on the circumstances. He considers education and any activities that don't pertain to his interests as a waste of time, and more times than not openly becomes problematic and dismissive towards authoritative figures. If he believes in his own causes this stunky is not afraid to express his opinions- through words, mild acts of "anonymous" vandalism, or any other way he sees fit- Gil will make it known. It may take a large amount of effort to crack through his headstrong facade, but Gil will hold gratitude towards the Pokemon he respects, even if he hates to admit it... which he usually doesn't.

 History 

    Virgil and his younger sister were both born and raised in Jubilife City, the place where their parents made a living, with his father being a weatherman and mother assisting a friend and coordinator colleague from Hearthome City in the fashion industry. Virgil, being a troublemaker right from birth, was never afraid of consequences. He would draw on walls, knock over furniture, torment his sibling, and overall just get himself into difficult situations that most young children would learn from. Instead, he refused to listen. This was taken notice early on after countless trials in order to get the disobedient skunk to finally learn, but to no avail. In kindergarten, where similar problems arose in the classroom, it was finally decided to take him to see help.

    During this time he never quite understood that he was doing wrong. Well, he did, but not to the extent everybody else saw it as. That was just his nature. Punishments never bothered him because he stood with an indifferent perception throughout all of it. Once he met with a counselor they were able to pinpoint his issues, and over time he finally managed to mature enough to calm down with his actions and learn right from wrong, even if he learned to hate doing what felt like monotonous garbage throughout his next few years of elementary school. It was always so boring. He could care less about his grades or friends, even if he was able to keep them afloat during the time being. Days, months, and years would pass and he could never get involved. Not like his younger sister, who excelled at being a goodie-two-shoes and accomplishing everything. He was never jealous of this, but he still never understood how she managed to live that way.

    At the age of 12 his mother was promoted in her work. Virgil didn't question it, but whatever it was changed everything that surrounded him. That year of middle school he and his family transfered to Lumiose City, presumablyy the biggest fashion city of Kalos- or even the world. He figured that much made sense, but even with that his parents suddenly became busier and he was forced to adjust to his new school and setting whilst they did their jobs. Of course he didn't care, and found just as much "enjoyment" as he did in his previous school, which he had no regrets leaving behind. He even liked it when his parents weren't around as much. They were never particularly close, somewhat excluding his dad who was home the most often and attempted to make the most advancements towards Virgil. Even so, having less time with them around prompted the teenage skunk to get involved with the things he discovered alone. Music, for example, interested him greatly. Enough so that he managed to find a used drum set and guitar for himself. During 8th grade he found a crowd for himself, albiet not the best for him in many ways, but still something he felt he belonged in. But with that, his average to low-average grades began to plumet. 

    It was bound to happen, really. Virgil always despised the school system and wanted to do the things he felt like doing, which education seemed to hold back. Strict teachers, deadlines, and mandatory work never assimilated with his desires. The "friends" he made were similar in that regard, dragging him along to the streets where they did their hoodlum-esque business. It was nothing major, but their habits still managed to distract Virgil from what system he had kept going to keep him advancing through every school year. He began to get home as late as his parents did each night, slowly letting his grades fall to D's and F's to the point where being held back became a viable option by the time he reached 10th grade. Though he barely managed to scrape through that year and move on, his behavioral tendencies led to arguments with teachers near the beginning of his junior year and with the same grades he had by the end of his previous term. His parents were stunned at how bad their son's situation had become, reaching a conclusion for him that they knew had to be done.

    After hearing of a prestigious boarding school in Sinnoh, Virgil's parents decided that it would be a proper place for their son to attend. If not for the coordinating friend of Virgil's mother, they might have never learned of ambicious curriculum it offered. After some consideration his parents decided that if their son were to succeed and change his upbringing, perhaps drastic measures were to be taken. If the academy were as successful as it sounded, it was in no doubt in their minds that this was the place Virgil should attend, so that he too would become a model citizen worthy of a happy, non-delinquent future. With the help of his mother's well-known colleague, they sent in an application, hoping that enough strings would be pulled for their boy to slip into the place they anticipated would change his outlook on life entirely.

    Needless to say... he flunked. After yet another failed year of pitiful grades and a lack of success in his parent's endeavors, it was decided that their son could be changed with a different approach. After a conversation with a family friend and the success of his daughter, Virgil's parents decided their next best option was to send their son to the school their friend recommended. A more laid back, but similarly prestigious academy and college known as Armonia.

Extras/Fun Facts:

 

- He rarely allows anybody to call him by his first name Virgil. Only close friends and family are able to, and even then it irritates him.

- The move snore was learned by accident during a tutoring lesson for one of his classes in middle school.

- A spunky fennekin spent most of her days at Virgil's household. She was great friends with his younger sister, but he and the fire-type never got off on the best of terms. They could be considered enemies but that mostly stems from the fennekin's point of view.

-His favorite instrument is the drums. He tends to tap his fingers and pencils in class, but he isn't that great at actually playing them. He despises marching band drums due to a past of being forced into band as an extracurricular activity.

- Virgil's father is an absol and his mother is a skuntank. Following the rising popularity of his mother's costume designs in the coordinating business, she tends to move back and forth between Lumiose and Hearthome city. Despite being involved in coordinating, there are rumors that she and her coordinator friend plan on opening a perfume line for fellow poison types. Dedicated fans might recognize Virgil and his sister for their parents like a certain fashionista combusken, but for the most part they go unnoticed.
